Electric Detonator
The Electric Seismic detonator is an initiator system of explosive charge that can convert an electric into a detonation.
The special configuration of the metallic filament used to manufacture the Seismic Electric Detonator results in low resistance which assures effective high initiation energy. The property of the filament makes it safer in terms of its functionality when compared to other detonators available in the market.
The electric detonator has an electro-pyrotechnical element that can react in less than 1.0 millisecond between the moment required current is applied and detonation takes place. The electro-pyrotechnical element is hosted in an antistatic device. The interior design of the detonator that includes the insensitive electro-pyrotechnical set and the antistatic plug was specially developed to prevent accidental detonation associated with static or erratic electricity.
The Aluminium detonator shell contains a base charge of PETN and Primary Charge of Lead Azide, Lead Styphnate & Aluminium powder. The total amount of explosives in the detonator including primary charge is less than 1 g.
Product would be with copper wire of 0.6 mm diametre. The insulation over copper wire is PE. Lead wire colour can be given any colour preferred by the client.

Plain Detonator
Supreme Plain Detonator is used with Safety Fuse. These detonators are of No. 8 strength and are used for blasting in quarries, opencast mines, surface excava-tions, well sinking, road construction, civil works etc.
Supreme Plain Detonators are non-electric in nature. These are initiated by a strand of safety fuse that is inserted into the cap and crimped with a crimping tool to prevent the fuse from slipping out of the cap and to prevent water or other foreign material entering the cap. The safety fuse should be cut squarely so that it comes into contact with igniting charge of the cap.
For best results store under moderate temperatures and dry conditions in a well ventilated, approved explosives magazine.
If stored in cool, dry, well ventilated magazine and handled properly, the maximum shelf life of Supreme Plain Detonator is 2 years from the date of manufacture.

Lay the detonating cord trunkline with minimum slack between drill holes.
Cut the trunkline at the point using a sharp knife at the point where Relay is to be connected. Pass one cut end of the detonating cord through the hole provided at one end in the plastic housing and double loop as shown in the sketch.
Repeat the same procedure at the other end.
Never use Relay under water.
The cut end of detonating cord should be kept dry.
Position the relays close to the boreholes or row being delayed.
Do not allow detonating cord to lie over Relays as it can damage the unit resulting in misfire.
While blasting using Relays, closed loop surface hook-up should be used.
Supreme Cord Relay contain sensitive components and must be handled with care and respect at all times.
50 Supreme Cord Relays are packed in duplex board boxes. 20 such cartons are packed inside a wooden/fibre board case having anti static polythene lining. Total Relays per case are 1000 numbers.

Cast Boosters
Booster is made of a high explosive composition cast into a cardboard/plastic shell. Two longitudinal tunnels in the booster accommodate either a signal tube detonator or detonating cord. One tunnel has straight walls while the other is blocked at the top of the booster to provide a stop for the detonator. Detonating cord or signal tube are protected from damage by a recessed well at the base of the booster.
Cast Boosters have a high density and a high velocity of detonation (VOD) to maximize performance.
Cast boosters are reliably initiated by detonators or by detonating cords containing at least 5.0 g/m PETN. These boosters have been specifically designed to provide reliable initiation of pumped, augered and packaged explosives. The main intended application for Cast boosters is for use with ANFO and Bulk explosives.
Consideration should be given to the type of initiation system used (refer to the relevant Technical Data Sheets).

With Delay Detonators:
Thread the detonator through the booster as shown in Figure 1. After assembly, the top and bottom faces may be taped for additional security against the detonator falling out especially in rough, angled blastholes. Lower the complete assembly to the desired location in the blasthole. Avoid walking on the signal tube or lead wires as this is likely to cause damage. In all applications, ensure that the primer is completely immersed in the explosive it is intended to initiate. This can be achieved by either pulling the primer up into the explosive or suspending the primer above the hole bottom during loading.
Large diameter packaged explosives should be lowered on top of primers, rather than dropped from the blasthole collar. The cord or tube downline should be kept taut during charging and stemming, to prevent damage and minimise abrasion. However, if a primer begins to float on top of a rising column of bulk explosive, temporarily slacken the downline. Once the surface of the explosive column has risen past the primer, tension can be reapplied to the downline.
With Detonating Cord:
Use Cast boosters with any detonating cord which has a PETN charge mass of 5.0 g/m or greater. Ensure the booster is securely attached to the detonating cord by passing the cord down through one tunnel. Tie the cord to form a loop, as shown in Figure 2, then lower the com- plete assembly to the desired location in the blasthole. Cut the detonating cord downline from its reel and adequately secure it at the blasthole collar. Charge the hole with explosives to the design level. For any subsequent boosters on the same downline, unfasten the detonating cord tail and thread the end of the cord through the straight walled tunnel. Re-secure the cord tail, at the collar, and slide or lower the booster to the desired location.
Cast boosters have a shelf life of 5 years in good storage conditions. These boosters should be stored in a cool, dry magazine licensed for 1.1D Explosives.

Detonating Cords
Solar Cord comprises an explosive core of PETN encapsulated in a tape winded with a natural or synthetic fibres and finally coated with plastic which makes the product strong, flexible and waterproof. It provides quick, safe and convenient means of simultaneously initiating any number of independent or inter-related charges.
Solar Cord is available with a variety of PETN charge weights designed for different applications.
Solar Cord can be initiated by a No. 6 or No. 8 plain detonator, electric or nonelectric detonator.
Solar Cord with PETN core loads of 10 g/m is most frequently used as downlines in blast-holes either for directly initiating charges or detonator sensitive NG explosives, watergels and emulsions or indirectly initiating columns and decks of detonator insensitive ANFO and non-cap sensitive watergels and emulsions by means of special primers or boosters.
